What is Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery?

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery includes a variety of procedures involving the teeth and mouth, jaws, and face.  This dental and medical specialty targets diseases, injuries, and defects of the hard and soft tissue of the oral and facial region.  As part of an oral and maxillofacial surgeon's training, "cross-training" in other specialties is necessary.   See the chart below containing our scope of training within the oral and maxillofacial field as well as our "cross training" into other specialties.
